Step 1 — Choose the right country and program
Start with your field, budget, and long-term plan. The UK offers a two-year Graduate Route after study; Canada and Australia have clear post-study work and PR pathways; Germany has tuition-free public universities; and South Korea and Japan combine strong scholarships with affordable living.
Do not pick a country because an agent gets the highest commission there. List three or four realistic options, compare total cost (tuition plus living plus visa), and check the post-study work rights before you shortlist universities.
Step 2 — Plan your budget honestly
Calculate tuition, living costs, the bank balance you must show for the visa, IELTS and application fees, and one-off travel and insurance costs. Many students underestimate the proof-of-funds requirement and lose months.
A transparent consultant will disclose every cost upfront, including any commission a university pays them. If anyone refuses to put fees in writing, treat it as a red flag.
Step 3 — Prepare IELTS and academic documents
Most English-medium programs require IELTS (or an accepted alternative). Give yourself two to three months of preparation and book the test early, because slots in Dhaka fill quickly.
Get transcripts, certificates, and any required notarisation ready in advance. Clean, well-organised documents speed up both admission and the visa stage.
Step 4 — Write a strong Statement of Purpose
Your SOP explains why this course, why this university, and why now. Admissions officers can spot a templated or ghost-written SOP instantly, so write in your own voice and connect your past to your future goals.
Get it reviewed by a mentor who knows the target country's expectations — a focused SOP often unlocks better scholarship offers.
Step 5 — Apply for scholarships and funding
Government scholarships (Chevening, DAAD, MEXT), university merit awards, and need-based grants can dramatically cut costs. Apply to several, and tailor each application to its criteria.
Track deadlines carefully — scholarship windows usually close months before the intake.
Step 6 — Secure your student visa
Once you accept an offer, prepare your visa file: proof of funds, accommodation, the offer or CAS letter, and any required interview. Practising a mock visa interview reduces avoidable refusals.
Never submit fake bank statements or documents. A single misrepresentation can lead to a long-term ban from the destination country.
Avoid brokers and hidden fees
Bangladesh has many unlicensed brokers who promise guaranteed admission or visas for large cash fees. No legitimate consultant can guarantee a visa. Choose a transparent, broker-free service, get every cost in writing, and verify partner universities yourself.
